Sisältö/Contents:
The aim of the course is to give the students a linguistic knowledge that allows them to express themselves fluently in everyday communication and in student life both in written and spoken Finnish. The students will practice correct Finnish pronunciation and learn to use the language in a variety of situations. In addition, the students will improve their written expression by writing different types of texts.
Lectures and exercises 50 hours. Active participation. Continuous assessment.
Evaluation: on a scale of 1-5/fail. The grade consists of attendace, active participation in class, assessment of work done during the course and a short presentation in Finnish. To be taught in Finnish.
Maksut: 95€ + VY-maksu 25€/opiskelija/opintojakso

Maksu- ym. -infoa:
Kesäyliopisto perii opetuksesta kurssikohtaisen maksun (ks. kunkin kurssikuvauksen kohdalta erikseen) sekä kurssikohtaisen VY-maksun 25€ (opintojaksot 3 op ja enemmän, 1.8.2011 alkaen).
Tämä VY-maksu on VY-suoritusten kirjaamisesta yms. hallintokuluista perittävä maksu. Se ei liity millään tavalla VY:n opiskelijoiden VY:lle maksamiin maksuihin. VY-maksun suuruus on määritelty 1.8.2011 voimaan tulevan yliopistojen uuden maksuasetuksen mukaisesti.

Info about payment etc.:
The summer university charges a certain fee for each course (the fee varies from course to course, check the course description for the fee) and also a university fee 25€/course (for courses that provide at least 3 credits or more, starting from 1.8.2011).
This university fee consists of costs that come from results registering and other administration costs. It has nothing to do with the fees that students pay for the university they are possibly studying at the moment. The amount of the university fee is defined according to a new decree of public charges that came into effect 1.8.2011.
N.B.! If you are a degree student at the University of Vaasa, you can ask about a possible financial support from your own faculty for your studies at the Vaasa summer university.
